HOW IT WORKS

Lets take a sample result of a student viz;
  • CHM101 B(3 unit)
  • BIO101 A(3 unit)
  • MAT101 B(2 unit)
  • PHY101 C(3 unit)
On a 5.0 scale his GPA calculated as follows;
Grade point = point x unit
i.e for an 'A' grade we have 5 points, for a B grade we have 4 points.
Note that while points changes according to grade, the unit does Not Change
  • CHM 101 = 3 X 4 = 12 points
  • BIO 101 = 3 X 5 = 15 points
  • MAT 101 = 2 X 4 = 8 points
  • PHY 101 = 3 X 3 = 9 points
  • Total Points = 44
  • Total units = 11
    • GPA = total points/total units
    = 44/11 = 4.00
